Mauston City Room Tax Committee To Launch New Greater Mauston Tourism Brand and Marketing Campaign on May 20th

Unveiling at City Hall to include presentation by Department of Tourism and a customer service workshop the next day

The Mauston City Room Tax Committee will enter the 2015 summer tourism season with a new creative brand and an integrated marketing campaign designed to grow visitors and revenue in the greater Mauston area.

The new brand and plan, created in coordination with the Mauston Room Tax Committee and with input from other business, government and economic development leaders, will be unveiled on Wednesday, May 20th, at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 303 Mansion St.

The meeting, which is open to the general public, will begin with a presentation on “The Power of Tourism” by Patrick Reinsma, Regional Tourism Specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. Reinsma, who has been providing ongoing support to the branding and marketing campaign, will highlight the positive impact that tourism has on state and local economies in terms of revenue and jobs.

Reinsma will also conduct a free workshop on customer service for those in tourism-related businesses on Thursday, May 21st, at 11:30 a.m. at City Hall.

The new brand and marketing plan for greater Mauston has been developed by a team of marketing specialists led by Lynn Rasmussen of Social Energizer, an Appleton firm specializing in hospitality and tourism marketing, under contract with the Mauston Room Tax Committee. The new brand and marketing plan positions Mauston as an excellent base camp from which visitors can enjoy a rich variety of experiences within an hour’s drive.

“Our brand image and the marketing campaign it promotes are strategically designed to bring our tourism economy to the next level by capitalizing on our location and differentiating ourselves with the unique assets that are within a short driving distance,” said Mary Hudack, Executive Director, Greater Mauston Area Chamber of Commerce.

“By working together in a regional approach, we intend to grow the tourism sector not only throughout Mauston but also throughout the region,” she added. “I encourage everyone with an interest in our economic development to attend the official launch of this campaign.”
