Juneau County Castle Rock Park
Castle Rock Park is one of the best-hidden gems Juneau County has to offer. Located twelve miles from Mauston in Central Wisconsin, Castle Rock Park is a summer destination families seek out year after year. The park consists of 300 campsites spread over 160 acres of wooded forest surrounded by limestone bluffs and white sand beaches. The park has newly remodeled bathrooms and over 100 campsites with electrical connection.
The campground sits along Castle Rock Lake stretches over 16,000 acres of crystal clear waters. The lake provides a great place to enjoy afternoons water-skiing, relaxing on the beach, or quiet fishing trips. Castle Rock Lake features two boat landings and a parking lot to accommodate trailers.
When guests aren’t enjoying the scenic lake views, biking and hiking trails can be explored throughout the park. Some of the favorite activities that guests can experience include yard games, volleyball, and a playground for kids. Reservations may be made through this website.
The summer months host lots of interactive community events that keep guests entertained and excited to come back each year. Residents of Juneau County and returning guests of the park are sure to be at Castle Rock Park the first weekend in August for the annual Waterfest.
Waterfest is a great community event that has all day activities for people of all age groups to enjoy. The day begins with a Wild Side 5k walk/run and eases into the annual bike parade where guests decorate their bikes and showcase their creativity in a parade around the park.
The afternoon is full of games and activities for children and adults. Kids will have a blast on the inflatable games and participating in the exciting Where’s Aldo search. There are sports tournaments for adults that include beanbag toss, horseshoes, and volleyball. Winners of the sports tournaments can take home cash prizes for their victories.
Venetian Boat Parade
The highlight of Waterfest is the Venetian Boat Parade. The lighted boat parade starts at dusk, where participants showcase their creativity in a voyage from the Dirty Turtle back to Castle Rock Park. Guests can watch the parade along the shore of the lake or at local lakeshore businesses, where music and entertainment will be featured. The boat parade ends at Castle Rock Park with fireworks before the “Light Your Site” contest begins.
